The Lost Boy
Ten Minute Drama, 1M or 1F
A professor delivers a eulogy for a student who died too young.

This is an actual eulogy originally delivered by the playwright in the Sacred Heart Chapel of Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. It was for one of my students; a charming, youthful, kind-hearted young man who accidentally fell from a balcony while home with his parents in New Hampshire for his winter break.

I ask that the actor performing the monologue do so with the utmost dignity and respect. I had not originally intended to publish this personal piece of writing, but since its delivery I have had numerous requests for copies. It is my hope that, as a performance piece, it will allow future audiences to feel the deep regret of having not known such an extraordinary kid.

This play is therefore lovingly dedicated to my former student Herbert Darling III (1988-2007)
